Red is the colour of love. And the new Spyder ABT R8 GT S presents itself at the Geneva auto show in red chrome, contrasted by the middle segment: From its bonnet to the rear wing carbon dominates. The visually dynamic appearance has a reason. The ABT Sportsline motorsports department has focused upon weight reduction and a perfect weight distribution  when designing this open super sports car. The result is a top-of-the-line convertible: The R8 GT S signals that it is among the fastest cars there are, starting with the carbon inlays at the flanks and the engine and the soft-top cover. Front apron, rear apron, window frame covering, red air hoods, bonnet or exterior mirrors are not only design elements but also made of carbon fibres. They are thus very light. This sports car has the ideal weight for a top performance.

Thanks to ABT POWER, this dream car now has 620 hp (456 kW). The serial model has 525 hp (386 kW). This is an extra of almost 20 per cent, and the ABT R8 GT S is thus able to sprint from naught to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds. The specially developed air hoods always see to the right climate in the engine. The convertible with its 5.2-Liter-V10 is fully feasible, of course, and cruising on country roads is real fun. And thanks to the ABT chassis, ideal conditions obtain in all situations. The sport exhaust system makes for a good sound and additional performance and is also a major part of the design concept. It is fully in line with the diffuser, rear wing and the trapezoid rear apron. The car isn’t only extremely fast, it also looks as if it were, especially when the ABT BR light alloy wheel in 20 inches or the CR in 19 inches signals speed from the outset.

The love for details is also reflected inside: ABT Sportsline has developed a red carbon-fibre steering wheel and the centre console, the gearbox and parts of the door covering are also “dressed” in red exposed carbon. This is contrasted by the remaining parts of the doors and the dash panel. Both have been newly clad in leather by ABT. This elegant material’s texture is very expressive. The red-black leather of the sport seats form a perfect combination with the above. Red safety belts and illuminated door ledges complete this sports convertible’s look.
